JOB PURPOSE
Provide specialist telecommunications and Personal Computer support to the offshore Operations team.
ORGANISATION STRUCTURE
Based offshore as an integral member of the Block 6.1 Operations platform team, reporting to the Digital & Communications Technology (DCT) Telecoms team leader who in turn reports to the DCT Operations Manager; daily reporting to Offshore Operations Supervior.

Company: 254 staff
DCT: 17 staff
Offshore platform: 25 staff
CONTEXT
Communications between offshore and onshore are vital for the health and safety of the people offshore and for maintaining production.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Maintain the telecommunications between offshore, the onshore terminal and HCMC office.
• Maintain the internal platform communications.
• Perform the installation and periodic maintenance of telecoms equipment, e.g. Radio, PAGA, Inmarsat, VSAT, Telephones and Beacons.
• Liaise with the onshore telecoms technicians, onshore telecoms team and contractors/service providers to resolve technical problems.
• Operate as a radio operator for shipping and aircraft.
• Support Local Area Network, Personal Computers and office machines.
• Co-ordinate with onshore DCT team for server maintenance.
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
• BA degree with major in telecommunications
• Minimum 3 years of experience in radio, TV system, satellite communications and voice;
• Basic skill at Microsoft Windows 2XXX and Microsoft Office;
• 1 year experience in TCP/IP networks and internetworking will be an advantage.
CHALLENGES:
• As a focal point for telecommunication issues, the position is very demanding requiring a good understanding of the offshore and onshore facilities. The role will primarily support the offshore team.
• Be familiar with high-tech telecoms equipment
• External communications with contractors and service providers.
